Two Weeks...GONE!

Work...can't live without it and you don't want to live with it. Don't get me wrong, as far as jobs go, I know I'm lucky. However, these past two weeks have been hell...in fact I would appreciate it if they could just be erased from my memory.

Having to leave for business is bad enough. Not knowing until the last minute that you have to leave is worse. Not knowing until the last minute that you have to leave, two weeks in a row is BS! Add to that, you're going to spend 15-20 hours per day in a 115ºF Plant you tend to think that unemployment is more desirable.

If you think I'm compensated for my effort, you can forget about it. No, no, no, that's not how it works. I don't get paid overtime nor do I earn comp time. If I'm lucky, I might get a pat on the back and that will be all. If I'm really lucky the person that writes my performance appraisal will remember my effort and maybe, just maybe, I can get a raise that's only a percent lower than the cost of living increase.

...course...come appraisal time it will all equal out...

Since I was gone from work for two weeks (doing work) all my projects are two weeks behind. The one thing I do know...that will be remembered come appraisal time. The kicker...I have to write reports and hold meetings about my trip. There's another day and a half, GONE. Oh hell, maybe I better wait to get my memory erased until after I write my reports.
