Last week Trey started playing soccer. That's right, Trey started playing in the Brunswick Youth Soccer League, in the U6 Division. He's on the Tigers and so far he's having a lot of fun. For those in the area and interested, his games are listed in the calendar.
All of his games are off Laurel Road in Brunswick, across the street from Applewood Elementary School.
Trey practices on Wednesday nights, and he really enjoyed his first practice. He met his new teammates, and when he introduced himself he let everyone know that his favorite cartoon character is Spiderman. After some warm-ups, it was time to start learning the game of soccer.
Trey started off with trying to kick some goals and then it was time to learn how to dribble the soccer ball.
The team then started to play the game Sharks and Minnows.
Basically the coach picks one person to be a shark, while all the other kids are minnows. All the minnows have to dribble their soccer ball all around the field. The shark needs to run around and kick the ball away from the minnows. When a minnows ball is kicked away, that player has to sit down and wait for the game to end. The round ends when the shark has successfully kicked all the balls away from all the minnows.
After Sharks and Minnows, the kids played some 5 verse 5 soccer.
However, the highlight of practice was when all the kids got their new uniforms for the year. By far, the highlight for Trey!
Saturday, August 20th was Trey's first soccer game.
The action was absolutely hilarious! It was a lot of fun watching the 5 and 6 year olds.

Here's a summary of the action Trey saw during his first game:
-
He spun in circles with his arms extended while both team raced by him.
-
He caught raindrops with his tongue.
-
He ran down the field dribbling a ball while holding hands with a girl teammate of his.
All and all a pretty fun day for Trey!
